Youth Music of the World is thrilled to announce an extraordinary musical event, showcasing a powerful collaboration between the Newsome Orchestra of Joe E. Newsome High School in Lithia, Florida, and the renowned London Youth Orchestra led by conductor Fred Slide. This historic performance will take place at Holy Trinity, Sloane Square on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 7:30 PM. The event is free and open to the public on a first-come, first-serve seating basis.
The Newsome Orchestra, under the direction of the esteemed Mr. Allen, brings together over 100 talented musicians from a thriving arts programme in the heart of Florida. This performance marks a significant milestone for the orchestra, as it represents their inaugural international performance, following a remarkable journey that has taken them from historic Colonial Williamsburg to the iconic Carnegie Hall in New York City. The orchestra is excited to share their passion for music with an international audience and celebrate this momentous occasion in London.
Mr. Allen, a dedicated educator with over 21 years of experience, is not only a respected teacher but also a professional orchestral French Horn player. His contributions to music education were recently recognised with the Manilow Music Project Music Teacher Award in Tampa, an honour that came with a $10,000 prize and an exclusive pre-concert meet-and-greet with the legendary Barry Manilow himself.
On the other side of the stage, Fred Slide, the founder and conductor of the London Youth Orchestra Band, will lead the ensemble through a dynamic and exciting performance. Fred Slide is known for his dedication to youth music and his inspiring leadership within the British music scene. His orchestra, which comprises talented young musicians, has earned accolades for its engaging performances and commitment to musical excellence.
